Dominick T. Favale, a Fishkill resident since 2000 and formerly of the Bronx, died at home on Monday, September 24, 2012. He was 92.
Born on May 1, 1920, he was the son of the late Vincent and Maria Salamone Favale. In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in World War II until being honorably discharged in 1946. For 39 years, Dominick worked as a crane operator for New York Central Railroad. He retired in 1982. He also spent 10 years as part of the New York Yankees grounds crew from 1964 – 1974. Additionally, he raised homing pigeons and belonged to the Westchester Hills Pigeon Racing Association.
On October 30, 1948, he married Christine Marra at St. Anthony’s Church in the Bronx. Mrs. Favale survives at home in Fishkill. Dominick is also survived by two sons, Vincent Favale & his wife Alice of Carmel and Michael Favale of Yonkers; his daughter, Grace-Ellen Castellano & her husband Robert of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Carmel, Vincent & Christina Favale, Kristin Pascuzzi & her husband Andrew, Michele & Michael Favale, and Allison and Eric Castellano; his sister, Marie Testa; his brothers, Vincent Favale & his wife Barbara of White Plains and John Favale of the Bronx; also many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 27 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 28 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.
Dominick’s family would like to offer their gratitude to the nurses, volunteers and staff at Hospice Foundation, Inc. for the care and compassion shown to the entire Favale Family during this difficult time. They would especially like to thank Sylvia, Theresa and Linda for all of their assistance and kindness.
